Oakley started competing in rodeo at the young age of seven. "A day for me would start up around six in the morning, feeding and then getting horses saddled, riding, roping the lead steer and roping the dummy between fifty to a hundred times a day minimum because I was always told if I wanted to be the best I had to practice and put every effort I possibly can. . I didn't always have the best rope horses but I was given the best I could get and I think it has helped me to learn horsemanship, patience and how to train a horse and appreciate what I have and no not to take things for granite when you have something good right before you."

In 1999 he won my first all-round saddle in a local junior rodeo association in Las Vegas, Nevada. From there he started participating in Little Britches Rodeos and won saddles along the way - all while learning the art of practice, taking care of horses and good sportsmanship. In 2007, he was the Senior World Champion Heeler in the National Little Britches Finals. That was truly a high point for me since it was my first year as a senior in that association.

Oakley has qualified for the 2007-2009 National High School Finals in team roping and in 2008 qualified in the calf roping. Being a national high school qualifier means you were in the top four in your state after a season of rodeos and you go to represent your state at the finals against the top four from all the other states. The competition is very tough.

In 2008, Oakley won the USTRC #13 Nevada Championships with Jade Corkill in Reno, Nevada. Later that year I won the USTRC #12 in Laughlin, Nevada with my high school partner, Victor Ugalde.

In 2009, after competing all season, my partner and I became the Nevada State High School Rodeo Team Roping champions. I have continued to compete in the National Little Britches Rodeo Association and in 2009 finished 4th in the senior division rankings for the year.

"My goal is to become a world champion in the professional ranks (PRCA) and I would like to inspire others by my actions and show that if you put your mind to it anything is possible and if they practice hard and dream big there goals can to come true. I have been very fortunate to have great mentors at every turn I have taken. My family and friends have never doubted my ability and have helped me make decisions that will continue to take me closer to my goals."

Sore No More Cooling Clay Poultice: "I won the 10 roping and fast time in first and second round at the Piiholo ranch, Maui Hawaii. During the competition I used the Sore No More Cooling Clay before and after the ropings. It is quick and easy to put on and take off and helps keep my horses legs in great shape."
